My Costa Rica

My Costa Rica

Brian Hughes, Costa Rica. If I had to summarize my life in Costa Rica, I’d describe it as a rich and varied journey.

Visiting or living in Costa Rica for any length of time, you’ll quickly discover that everyone’s Costa Rica is different. No two experiences are exactly alike—and that’s certainly true of mine.

As I write this, I’m approaching 26 years of having the privilege of calling this beautiful paradise home. Over the years, I’ve owned a wide variety of businesses, from hotels, restaurants, and bars to cattle operations. Not every venture was profitable, but each one introduced me to incredible people, unforgettable characters, and experiences I wouldn’t trade for anything. Every chapter has been part of the adventure.

If I had to summarize my life in Costa Rica, I’d describe it as a rich and varied journey through the mountains, the beach, and the city. Even today, I’m fortunate enough to still enjoy living in all three.

Places I’ve Worked… Kinda

While these aren’t the actual locations of my developments or businesses, they represent many of the places I consider my temporary offices—a laptop, reliable Wi-Fi, and the freedom to work from almost anywhere. After years in the corporate advertising world, surrounded by stress and the grey backdrop of big cities, this feels like a true worker’s paradise.

Come find yours.
