Sustainability Meets Affordability
Brian Hughes, Senior Partner, Agroblox, Costa Rica
“We’re 100% Costa Rican, and every AGROBLOX product is made using recycled and renewable green materials,” Hughes proudly states. This dedication to sustainability is not just about improving the environment; it’s also about providing tangible performance benefits. “Our products don’t just help the environment—they deliver real performance benefits that builders and homeowners can see and feel.” AGROBLOX products excel in moisture control, promoting healthier homes and buildings. Unlike many traditional materials that succumb to mold, insects, and deterioration, AGROBLOX products offer durability that stands the test of time. Furthermore, research indicates that these materials can help reduce EMF penetration from cell towers and other sources, adding another layer of health benefits.
Historically, sustainable building materials have been perceived as prohibitively expensive. Hughes notes, “We’ve solved that problem.” AGROBLOX’s costs are comparable to conventional materials, and when considering long-term ownership expenses, they often prove to be less expensive. “Once people understand the performance, sustainability, and economics, a lightbulb goes off,” he explains.
Green Initiatives in Costa Rica
Brian Hughes, Owner / Partner Finca Salva, Costa Rica
Finca Salva Farm Operations is a fully established agricultural facility designed to support commercial-scale cultivation with the infrastructure, equipment, and personnel already in place. Licensed in June 2023, the operation was granted the right to use its land for sugar cane cultivation, becoming the first operation in the San Carlos region to receive this authorization.
The property features 20 greenhouses with established water and electrical infrastructure, providing extensive growing capacity. In addition, two fully climate-controlled greenhouses totaling 600 square meters are equipped with air conditioning, water, and electricity, creating an optimal environment for year-round cultivation and research.
Supporting the agricultural operation is a modern 1,000-square-meter office and laboratory facility that includes multiple offices, a conference room, a processing area, and dedicated worker facilities. The property is fully operational and includes all essential equipment necessary for our production. An integrated water filtration system further enhances operational efficiency and sustainability.
An experienced on-site team, including a qualified agronomist and an established labor crew, provides the expertise needed to maintain and expand operations. With its extensive infrastructure, operational readiness, and skilled workforce, Finca Salva Farm Operations offers a unique opportunity for investors or agricultural operators seeking a fully equipped, production-ready facility.
